This black and beige masland mat is among the most exquisite to come from West Bengal - home to the famed Madurkathi craft. This masterpiece which features in tvami’s heirloom collection is made by hand using the best quality Madurkathi reed available, which are further trimmed into fine fibres, lending to the mat’s flexibility, durability and light weight. A single mat of this grade requires up to 30 days of arduous work, carried out by two master artisans. The intricate design and working with superfine madurkathi reed require seasoned hands and expertise. It can be folded, rolled, stored and used for many years without the weave becoming lose or the mat becoming brittle. The beautiful diamond-shaped design blended with geometric and zig-zag design complete this elegant piece, which is sure to add grace wherever it is used.
