Handwoven Textiles of Bengal

Few textile traditions embody refinement like Jamdani. Woven on fine muslin, each motif is inserted individually by hand — a meticulous technique that can take weeks, sometimes months, to complete a single saree or stole. The result is feather-light fabric with floating motifs that feel almost ethereal.

Equally celebrated are the weaves of Phulia, known for their breathable cottons, elegant borders, and timeless drape. 

Natural Fibre Craft & Floor Décor

The finely woven Masland mat (Madhurkathi) transforms humble river reeds into intricate, smooth-textured mats with geometric detailing. Once favoured in aristocratic Bengali homes, these handcrafted floor pieces blend utility with quiet luxury.

Ancient Metal Casting: Dokhra

Created using the 4,000-year-old lost-wax technique, Dhokra sculptures are individually modelled in wax, layered in clay, fired, and cast in metal. No mould is reused — ensuring every piece is one of a kind.

Sacred Craft Traditions

Delicately carved from the soft inner core of the shola plant, Sholapith (Bengal Pith) is traditionally used in wedding décor and ceremonial adornment. Naturally white and feather-light, it symbolises purity and auspiciousness in Bengali culture.

Handmade Indian Paintings

Originating in Bihar’s Mithila region, Madhubani is recognised for its bold outlines, intricate patterning, and symbolic storytelling. Traditionally painted using natural pigments, each artwork is filled edge-to-edge with narrative detail — making it a powerful statement in artisan wall décor.

From Bengal, Bengal Patachitra continues a rich scroll-painting tradition where artists narrate epics and folklore through sequential imagery. The process is entirely handmade, with detailed linework and layered colours applied patiently over days.
