Product Details

Hand-painted with natural colours, this sacred cloth shrine uses black that is derived from a mixture of rusted iron scraps and jaggery, and represents protection against evil. In this painting, Vishat Mata, the goddess with 20 hands, proceeds to defeat the asuras, while royals and commoners alike offer their prayers and services. The natural elements that grace her backdrop symbolise her influence on the natural world and, perhaps, the artisan’s own attachment to these elements. Mata-ni-Pachedi, an artform created by the nomadic Vaghari community of Gujarat, literally translates to "behind the Mother Goddess". To truly appreciate this handcrafted product, we would like to invite you to meet the artisan, Vasant Manubhai Chitara and also see this masterpiece, in person (of course virtually). Don't let distance get in your way, drop us a message on WA Business 6364665722 or an email to support@tvami.com and we can arrange a call to see this authentic handmade painting.
