It is painstakingly handwoven using fine cotton threads in the warp and intricately split reeds of korai grass in the weft. The unique grass, a sustainable natural fibre, is native to the region and prepared for weaving after a lengthy process of harvesting, drying, soaking, splitting and finally dyeing. The mats are best described as woven poetry.
