Akunuri Aravind is a generational Warangal dhurrie weaver. He inherited his passion towards the craft from his late father Akunuri Cheralu, who practiced it for over 50 years. Having learnt the skills from the master himself, Aravind has developed expertise with nearly two decades of experience in weaving dhurries on a handloom. He works alongside 100-odd weavers who collectively form the Shatranji and Nawar Handloom weaver Co-Op Society, and is driven to ensure this ancient artful craft continues to thrive in its original form.
