View all productsWall hangings are silent storytellers. From folklore to the epics, the colours, flavours and characters are forever immortalized within its weaves.
For artisans from Sholapur, it is a way of life. A simple one, dating back to the 1970s, a perfect combination of warps and wefts and cutouts on a cotton base, strung together with wooden rods, to complete the symphony.
The designs themselves, of course, are reflective of the passage of time. Basic, monochrome patterns gave way to picturesque sceneries, portraits and even pictures. All woven with the common thread of devotion to the craft, interplayed with cheery motifs of flowers, shapes and animals. The more complicated ones draw inspiration from their lives-gods and goddesses, rangolis, worlimotifs, et all. All this goodness encased within a palette of primary colours-red, blue and yellow, mostly reminiscent of sunsets.
Perhaps a reminder of simpler times when time didn’t go as fast?
