Perhaps what sets Kashida embroidery apart from the rest is the reflection of the artisan’s mind. Not just their craft. A white palette, in particular, provides the perfect backdrop for multi-hued, intricate yet simple in essence, Kashida embroidery motifs and designs.

Although, strictly speaking, any palette would be ideal to show off this Kashmiri-origin embroidery craft. Who can, after all, clearly say how designs inspired by nature, ought to pop? How curling vines, cheerful birds, evergreen leaves and flowers forever in bloom, ought to be?

The signature single style is, of course, the only common element in a myriad of motifs and designs. Artisans do, however, take the liberty of experimenting with different schools, such as the satin stitch, herringbone, stem stitch, chain stitch, knot stitch, et all. But, never more than twice! After all, what isn’t broken needn’t be fixed and craft that has been honed over the years only needs to be preserved, not tainted.
