Product Details
Painted on cotton canvas with natural colours, this Cheriyal scroll painting portrays Women Playing Pallanguzhi. Pallanguzhi is played with a wooden board that has fourteen grooves in it. It tests one's mathematical and strategic skills. Cheriyal Scroll Painting is a traditional folk art from Telangana. The scrolls are painted in a narrative format, with natural colours. This piece captures the daily activities of villagers and took the artisan, Rakesh, 20 days to paint. It is painted on canvas and can be framed. What makes them special is that the colours have been naturally extracted. Cheriyal scroll paintings aim to preserve the cultural essence of the Telangana region by capturing snapshots of daily rural life, traditional festivals, and customs using vivid colours. Artist Rakesh has completed an M tech degree and practices the Cheriyal craft with his family. A National Awardee who works hard to train other students, he strives to ensure that the Cheriyal legacy continues.
